Andrew has added his name to a cross-party letter to the Chancellor of the Exchequer asking for action to deal with unreasonable student debt repayments.
The MP and former minister has been receiving correspondence from affected graduates in South West Wiltshire faced with huge student debt. He said;
"Since the late 1990s young people have too often been sold degrees on a false premise. It is blighting lives and damaging the country's workforce on which our future growth depends.
"I approve of the government's stated intention to shift towards a skills-based future in higher and further education but the Chancellor must also come up with a better offer for existing graduates whose working lives are being blighted by impossibly high levies for debt that often will never be fully repaid."
