Andrew – ex-Northern Ireland Minister and former Chairman of the Northern Ireland Select Committee – has signed a petition against government plans to reverse protection for Northern Ireland veterans brought in by the last Conservative government. Andrew represents many veterans, including those who served in Northern Ireland during The Troubles, said:
“I feel so strongly about this manifest unfairness. These men are now old and often frail but as young soldiers they did their best to keep the peace. Now a salon of left-liberal, north London so-called human rights lawyers are hauling them before the judiciary for doing the State's bidding. It must stop.”
Andrew served for 18 years in the Royal Navy went on to say:
“I am proud to represent a garrison town and many veterans make our area their home. I'd urge anyone to go online and add their signature to mine.”
